Every year, a miracle happens in Castelluccio di Norcia: the plateau turns into a massive, colourful patchwork and photography buffs flock together along the edge of the fields to capture unique shots.
The culprits for this chromatic delirium are not lentil flowers, which are actually white, but other wild flowers that grow in the same fields where this legume is grown.
The flowering has come really late this year because of the bad weather, reaching its peak at the end of July. So, our trip to the Sibillini didn’t go as expected, but we didn’t mind. Although the rain wrecked our plan to go hiking on Mount Bove, we found a surprise along the road that largely made up for the canceled walk.
